A Sprag Clutch is a freewheel device having an inner race, and an outer race either of which can be the input or output member. In general, Sprag Clutches are able to transmit greater torques, within the given overall dimensions, than other types of free-wheel device.
Trapped Roller Clutches:
Trapped roller freewheels consist of a cylindrical outer race, an inner race with ramps, and individually sprung rollers. The springs ensure that the rollers are held in contact with the outer race and inner race ramp, making torque transmission instantaneous. The trapped roller freewheel can be used in 3 applications:
